CLIVET AT THE GREEK PRESIDENCY OF THE EU: EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS FOR HEATING AND COOLING IN THE MEDITERRANEAN.

At the congress "Energy efficient and renewable solutions towards the European energy efficiency with a double benefit" hosted by the Greek presidency of the EU, Clivet presents its heat pump solutions for energy saving in Mediterranean comfort.

On April 11th 2014, Clivet participated to the conference organized by the Greek presidency of the EU Council and the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) "Energy efficient and renewable solutions towards the European energy efficiency with a double benefit", which took place in Bruxelles.

Keynote speakers from different sectors, such as Paul Hodson from the European Commission's Directorate General for Energy, Constantine Karistas from the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving, Stanmatis Sivitos from the European Environmental Citizen Organization for Standardization and Thomas Novak, Secretary General of EHPA, discussed where Europe stands with regards to the energy efficiency targets and how heat pump technology can be seen as an easy solution to achieve both energy efficiency and renewable energy targets.

Clivet gave its contribution with a speech by Mr. Marco Grisot, Application Manger Residential on the state of the art of heat pump technology for residential and commercial applications in Italy and abroad, with a focus on the new electric tariffs in Italy, which will help the heat pump technology diffusion in this country.

Marco Grisot comments: "Heat pumps, thanks to the Italian favourable climate, can use 75% of renewable energy, contributing significantly to the reduction of the dependence on fossil fuels.

Heat pump systems in commercial applications are well established even in harsh climates. The specialization and know-how acquired in Italy in commercial systems allows us to increase export in other European countries."

Grisot concludes: "In Italy the market for residential heat pumps is designed to have a strong development thanks to the new flat rate dedicated to the heat pump, very advantageous compared to the current progressive rate, which limited the heat pump diffusion."

The first part of presentations gave insight on residential, commercial and industrial applications with a special focus on Greece and Italy, the second part presented examples from district heating in Denmark and discussed a proposal for an environmental NGO on Ecodesign and Energy Labelling for heating systems.

The conference concluded with an optimistic view on the possibility to reach European targets thanks to the heat pump technology, as underlined by Mr. Hodson, while increasing employment in Europe, as showed by Mr. Novak.
